Instructions

Step 1
Chop onion and a small carrot finely. Dissolve a broth cube in 5 deciliters of water. Place the peas in a saucepan with the carrot and onion. Simmer with a small amount of the broth (enough to cover) for about 5 minutes. Transfer the mixture to a blender and blend thoroughly. Add a bit of the broth to help with blending. In another saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons of butter and add 2 tablespoons of flour. Whisk the flour into the melted butter to avoid lumps. Pour in the broth, and it will thicken. Add the blended mixture to the saucepan and whisk together. Pour in 1 deciliter of cream. Season with black pepper, thyme, and sage, approximately 1 teaspoon each. Add bay leaf. Let it simmer for 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove the bay leaf.
