Oat Puttu
Kerala Puttu
I dont know any similar meals that I could compare it too. Its rice or oat flour with grated coconut steamed into a roll. It should be fluffy and not too dry.
It is served with bananas (sweet breakfast) or currys (spicy breakfast)
Important: You need a puttu cylinder and steam boiler where you can put the cylinder on top

Instructions
Step 1
Blend the oats into flour.
Step 2
Put the oat flour into a bowl, add salt (whenever you try a pinch of the flour, there should be salt in it), add handfuls of water to moisturize all of the flour. The flour shouldnt be soaking, but if you press it in your hand together and let loose, it should only break into big chunks.
Step 3
Optional: mix some grated coconut into the flour
Step 4
Take the steam boiler, fill with water, make it boil, reduce the heat
Step 5
Put a layer of grated coconut into the cylinder, then fill the cylinder with the moist flour (dont shake it or even it out, this way more steam will get through), top it up with a layer of grated coconut, close the cylinder and put it onto the steam boiler
Step 6
When steam gets out at the top of the cylinder, wait between 2-5 minutes (depends on the amount of flour, the more flour the more minutes) to steam it thoroughly.
Step 7
Take off the cylinder, open it and push the puttu out of the cylinder onto a plate. Its done. 👌
