Instructions

Step 1
1. Peel your potatoes and 3-4 carrots (1-2 potatoes per person) chop carrots into equal sized pieces, peel and dice one large onion

Put the potatoes on to boil/ steam whichever you prefer

Put the carrots on to boil with a little splash of orange juice (smooth only) or a little bit of sugar

Fry off the mince beef, season with some salt and pepper to taste. Repeat the process with the onion, add onion to the beef and cook off until soft, season with salt and pepper to taste also

Drain the fat from the mince and return to the heat, add the stock and simmer for 5-10 mins

Add enough water to cover just over half the mince, and bring to a boil

Once boiling, add your gravy paste or granules and allow to cook until just thick enough to your liking

Check your potatoes, should be able to stick a fork straight through, if done remove from heat and drain

Transfer the potatoes to a bowl and mash until you can see no lumps

Check carrots, if done strain and add to the gravy and mince mix

Add 2-3 tablespoons of real creamery butter to your mashed potatoes along with some salt and pepper, a sprinkle of parsley and a splash of milk and mix until smooth

Get a large baking dish and full to about half way up with the mince mixture, then add your mashed potato on top, smoothing it out with a spoon (it will take time and it will be messy but it will be so worth it)

Preheat oven to 180*c for about 15-20 mins. Before going in the oven, drag a fork along the top of the mashed potato. Place in the oven at 180*c to 200*c for 20-30 minutes until the mashed potato is golden brown and crispy on the top.

Once done remove from the oven, serve and enjoy !!
