Ingredients
2 servings
2 CUPSWARM WATER
115, Warm Water
¼ cupsugar
1 ½ tablespoonsactive dry yeast
1egg yolk
1 teaspoonsalt
¼ cupvegetable oil
6 cupsflour
Instructions
Step 1
-warm 2 cups of water to 115 degrees.
-Whisk and dissolve only 2 TBLS of the sugar in the water. - Add yeast.
-Whisk for a minute or two, make sure that it foams when you add the yeast in the water. This indicates that the yeast is active and will do its job! Let this sit for 5 min (Use a timer!). This is proofing the yeast. Do not proof it for any longer or shorter. This can mess with the end result, and over and under proof is a thing. You’ll be fine if the 5 min timer goes off and there’s a second or two in between the next step, just try not to let it sit there for a long time after 5 min!
Step 2
-add in yolk, salt, the remaining sugar, and oil.
Step 3
Grab your dough hook and mix together really well. Then, one at a time, start adding your cups of flour in. On your 5th cup, it should start pulling away from the bowl, the 6th one should bring it together.
Step 4
This is one of the most important steps in making the bread, kneading! Once your dough is pulling from the sides of the bowl, you want knead for a solid 7 minutes. Really put in that elbow grease! Best way is to set a timer so you stay on track. https://youtu.be/BJiucv88flM?si=ZExjGzHHsOt_Slzp
Step 5
After you have kneaded your dough really well your going to want to grab a big bowl, probably the biggest one you have, and put vegetable oil all on the inside (i usually heat my bowl with the oil in the microwave for 1 minute so the bowl is warm, warmth for dough is crucial in the rising process!!!)
Step 6
After oiling it up you want to set your dough in the bowl and spray the dough with cooking oil, i like this for comfort that it can rise without hesitation. Then you want to get a cloth that covers the bowl and wet the rag and make it pretty damp, this helps the dough stay moist through rising.
Step 7
RISING
-i place my bowl in a room that’s super warm (i turn the temp up so it’s pretty warm) and i put it next to the heater, not too close but enough so it can stay warm for the hour it rises. Let it rise for 1 HOUR
it should double in size, if not more.
Step 8
After your dough has risen, punch it down in the bowl once. Take it out and knead it for 1 MINUTE. Split the dough in half and put it into loaf pans. Put the dough back in the rising room and let the loafs rise in the pans for 30 MINUTES.
Step 9
Your dough is ready to bake! Yay! Only way you can mess it up now is by burning it. Haha you got this. Set your oven to 350 DEGREES and once it’s preheated put your loafs in the oven. Cook them for about 35 min, that’s what worked for me. But always make sure to poke through with stick. Once done, let cool a bit and enjoy!!!
