⅔ cWater
room temp
1 Tbspwater
+ 1 cup water
1egg
large, room temp
⅓ cSugar
4 cFlour
1 TbspDry active yeast
1 ½ tspsalt
Egg wash
Simply Syrup (Optional)
Instructions
Step 1
Put the dough hook on the mixer and add the ingredients in order to the mixer.
Step 2
Turn the mixer on stir for 15 min. Occasionally stop the mixer and push the dough together if it’s sticking to the side of the bowl. (If it’s too sticky add 1 tbsp. of flour at a time until it pulls away from the bowl. The dough should stick to the bottom of the bowl but not the sides.)
Step 3
Grease 2 bread pans or 2 round pie pans for rolls (8 rolls in each pan).
Step 4
Let the bread rise 1 hr. While you’re waiting make the egg wash by mixing the egg and water. Set it aside. To make the syrup dissolve the sugar into hot water. Set it aside.
Step 5
Brush egg wash onto the bread and let it rise 1 more hr. Put the rack in the middle/center of the oven. (40 min. into the hour) Preheat the oven to 350F.
Step 6
Bake for 23-25min. or golden brown.
Step 7
Remove the bread from the oven. Then brush with the syrup if you want it sweeter.
