Spicy Calabrian Chili Pepper Pasta
5 steps
Cook:20min
Trader Joe's Italian Bomba Hot Pepper Sauce is made with fermented Calabrian chili peppers and builds heat, bite by bite, until you reach a crescendo of spice so invigorating that it paradoxically keeps you coming back for more. Drizzle it on pizza, grilled chicken, veggies, or scrambled eggs in lieu of hot sauce. Or sauté it with a few tablespoons of TJ’s Tomato Paste to create a vibrantly flavored sauce for coating pasta.

Step 2
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add rigatoni and cook to al dente, about 10 minutes. Before draining, reserve ½ cup of the pasta water.
Step 3
While your pasta is cooking, heat a large, high-sided skillet over medium heat. Add oil, and once the oil is hot, add garlic, lemon zest, tomato paste, and Bomba and sauté until fragrant, about 2 minutes.
Step 4
Carefully add cooked pasta to the skillet. Stir in reserved pasta water a tablespoon at a time until the sauce emulsifies, becomes glossy, and the pasta is thoroughly coated.
Step 5
Remove from heat, stir in lemon juice, and season to taste with salt. After each portion is plated, top generously with shaved cheese and basil leaves to serve.
