Instructions

Step 1
In a mixing bowl, combine warmed milk, sugar and yeast. The milk should be warmer than room temp but cool enough to stick your finger in without burning.

Step 2
Allow the yeast to activate for 5-10 minutes.
Step 3
In your mixer bowl, add your bread flour, salt, garlic powder and thyme. (You can substitute any herbs and seasoning you want to here).

Step 4
Once your yeast is activated, slowly start to incorporate into your mixer. You should get a dough that pulls away from the bowl and is slightly tacky. It’s ok if you need to add more flour - just do 1/4 cup at a time until you get the right consistency, making sure you push down what ends up on the side of the bowl.

Step 6
After one hour of resting your dough should’ve risen. Pour the dough out onto a clean surface. Gently fold/knead a few times until it comes together in a smooth ball. This shouldn’t take much effort since we want to be gentle and not overwork. Then let rest another 1/2-1 hour.
Step 7
Pour your dough onto a clean floured surface and knead again using the folding method then place in your greased loaf pan and cover for the last time. Let rise for at least a half hour but up to an hour.
Step 8
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Step 9
Bake for 30-35 minutes for a loaf or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
