This dish is absolutely delicious, and makes a large enough portion that it's great to make for a group! (Disclaimer: this is not my recipe! My uncle gave it to me - not sure where he got it from :> )

Instructions

The Sauce

Step 1
Caramelise the diced onion in a medium hot pan with a drizzle of olive oil and a pinch of salt until they are golden, soft and sweet, then set aside to cool.
Step 2
Once cooled, add the onion to the rest of the sauce ingredients.

Assembly

Step 3
Cook your steaks to taste, let them rest well and then slice them thinly.
Step 4
Fry the fries until crispy.
Step 5
In a large serving dish or deep tray, layer your ingredients like so: 1/2 the fries 1/2 the steak 1/2 the sauce 1/2 the cheese 1/2 the jalapeños 1/2 the spring onions
Step 6
Repeat the layering with the other half of your ingredients, topping with the green parts of the scallions. Enjoy!
