1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Melt butter in a 9-inch cast-iron or oven safe skillet

Remove from heat and stir in sugar

Quickly add eggs and stir until well blended.
Step 4
Combine buttermilk with baking soda and stir into mixture in in skillet. Stir in cornmeal, flour, and salt until well blended and few lumps remain.

Bake until a toothpick inserted

in center comes out clean.
