Instructions

Step 1
Combine flour, baking powder, salt, nutmeg, and sugar
Step 2
Add butter and mix until it resembles crumbs
Step 3
Add cottage cheese, milk, eggs, rum, and lemon rind
Step 4
Fold in raisins, cherries, and nuts
Step 5
Turn dough out onto a slightly floured surface. Kneed 2 or 3 times and shape into ovals
Step 6
Lightly flour rolling pin and roll to a 10 x 8 rectangle
Step 7
Fold over 3/4 of the dough, brush with egg white and seal by pressing down lightly
Step 8
Bake at 350° for 50 - 60 minutes
Step 9
Sprinkle with powdered sugar or spiced butter
