Instructions
Step 1
1Lin a large mixing bowl, combine the extra lean beef mince, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, grated parmesan, oregano, basil, onion powder, salt and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
Step 2
2. Roll the mixture into meatballs, making about 12-16, depending on your preferred size.
Step 3
3. Heat olive oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Add the meatballs in batches and cook for 6 8 minutes, turning occasionally, until all sides are golden brown and the meatballs are cooked through. Once cooked, remove the meatbals from the pan and set aside.
Step 4
4. In the same pan, add the pasta sauce Simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionaly. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
Step 5
5. Return the cooked meatballs to the sauce, allowing them to simmer for an additional 5 minutes to absorb the flavour.
Step 6
6. Meanwhile, slice the rolls lengthwise, but not all the way through, leaving a hinge. Toast the rolls lightly in the oven or in a pan, if desired.
Step 7
7.Spoon a few meatballs and some sauce into each roll. Top with a cheese slice and place the assembled subs under a grill or in a hot oven (180°c) for 3-5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
