Instructions

Step 1
Mix bonito flakes, Japanese soy sauce, toasted sesame oil, toasted white sesame seeds, sugar, and dashi granules in a large bowl until well combined.
Step 2
Add cooked Japanese short-grain rice to the bowl and mix until all ingredients are evenly distributed throughout the rice.
Step 3
Divide the rice into equal portions (makes 4 large or 6 small rice balls) and shape using your preferred method. Wet your palms if shaping by hand to prevent sticking.
Step 4
Wrap with nori and enjoy!
