Instructions
Step 1
Warm up and prepare:
Set the oven temperature to 425°F (220°C). Put parchment paper on a baking pan.
Step 2
Combine Dry Ingredients:
Whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and sugar in a large bowl.
Step 3
Add the Butter:
Using a pastry cutter or fork with sharp blades, chop the cold, cubed butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Step 4
Add Buttermilk:
Slowly whisk the cool buttermilk until it's just blended. The dough should be slightly sticky, but avoid overmixing.
Step 5
Shape and Cut:
Place the dough on a lightly floured surface, fold it over two or three times, and then roll it out to a thickness of one inch. Cut out circles with a glass or biscuit cutter. For maximum lift, press down straight rather than twisting.
Step 6
To achieve the ideal texture:
Arrange the biscuits on a baking sheet, drizzle them with melted butter, and bake them for 12 to 15 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
Step 7
Serve Warm:
Savour it right out of the oven with gravy, butter, or honey!
