Step 1
Rinse the rice before cooking to help it cook more evenly. Get water to a strong boil. Add brown rice. Put the lid on and reduce heat to a low simmer (~3/10 heat). As soon as you add the rice, start a 40 minute timer. Check the rice for steam holes scattered across the surface to indicate doneness. Remove from heat and let rest for 10 minutes with the lid on.
