Instructions

Step 1
Cook the chicken: Heat olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the cubed chicken and cook for 5–6 minutes until golden brown on all sides. Remove the chicken and set aside.
Step 2
In the same pot, add the chopped onion and cook for 3–4 minutes until softened. Stir in the garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
Step 3
Build the creamy base: Add Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, chicken broth, and heavy cream. Stir well until everything is combined into a rich creamy mixture.
Step 4
Cook the pasta: Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and add the penne pasta. Stir well to ensure the pasta is submerged in the liquid.
Step 5
Simmer until tender: Cover the pot and cook for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender and the sauce thickens.
Step 6
Add chicken & Parmesan: Return the cooked chicken to the pot and stir in the Parmesan cheese. Cook for another 2–3 minutes until the cheese melts into the sauce, creating a silky creamy finish.
Step 7
Serve & garnish: Season with salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with fresh basil and serve hot.
