Beef Patties with Onions and Peppers
This is a firm family favorite. It is easy to make and delicious, and it can be varied by adding other vegetables, such as sliced red bell peppers, broccoli, or mushrooms. The patties are very versatile and can be served in a variety of ways—with chunky homemade French fries, with crusty bread, or with rice and a ready-made tomato sauce.

Instructions
Step 1
1. Form the Patties: In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, finely chopped onion, and 1 tablespoon of the garlic-flavored oil. Season well with salt and pepper, then mix thoroughly. Form the mixture into 4 large or 8 small patties.
Step 2
2. Brown the Patties: Heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil in a large nonstick pan over medium heat. Add the patties and cook until browned on both sides. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of water over the patties and season lightly.
Step 3
3. Add Vegetables & Braise: Cover the patties with the 3 sliced onions and the green bell pepper strips. Sprinkle over the remaining 1 tablespoon of water and a bit more seasoning, then cover the pan with a lid. Reduce the heat to very low and braise for 20 to 30 minutes.
Step 4
4. Serve: When the onions are tender and turning golden brown, remove the pan from the heat. Serve the beef patties topped with the cooked onions and bell peppers.
