Instructions

Step 1
Prepare the chicken: Pat the chicken dry and season both sides with salt, pepper, and ½ tsp Italian seasoning.
Step 2
Brown the chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the chicken for about 4–5 minutes per side, until nicely browned. It doesn't need to be fully cooked yet. Transfer to a plate.
Step 3
Make the sauce: Reduce the heat to medium. Add the garlic and cook for about 30 seconds. Add the sun-dried tomatoes and cook for another minute.
Step 4
Deglaze: Pour in the chicken broth, scraping up the browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
Step 5
Add the cream and cheese: Stir in the heavy cream, Parmesan, red pepper flakes, and remaining Italian seasoning. Simmer gently for 2–3 minutes, until the sauce begins to thicken.
Step 6
Finish the chicken: Return the chicken and any accumulated juices to the skillet. Spoon sauce over the chicken. Cover loosely and simmer for 5–10 minutes, depending on thickness, until the chicken reaches 165°F internally.
Step 7
Finish: Stir in the optional lemon juice. Sprinkle with fresh basil.
