Ingredients
5 servings
1 lbground beef
organic, grass-fed, found best to use 85%/15% lean or 80%/20% lean ground beef as it provides enough excess oil to add sufficient flavor to gravy not not too much as to overly shrink patties
¼ cupplain bread crumbs
1 x 8 ozBaby Bella mushrooms
package, sliced fresh, or fresh whole Crimini mushrooms, will need half thinly sliced and half chopped
2 jarsbrown gravy
signature select brand okay too, important! DO NOT get beef gravy, should be brown gravy!!
1egg
organic, beaten
1yellow onion
chopped
3cloves garlic
minced
ground sage
ground mustard
1 tspworcestershire sauce
salt
pepper
Green onions
or chives, chopped
fresh parsley
1can evaporated milk
1 cupketchup
Instructions
Step 1
Finely chop about half of the mushrooms and half of the yellow onion. In medium bowl, mix chopped mushrooms, onions, garlic, beef, bread crumbs, egg product, milk, thyme, sage, ground mustard, worschester sauce, salt & pepper, and 1 tablespoon of the ketchup. Shape mixture into 5 oval patties, 1/2 inch thick.
Step 2
In 12-inch nonstick skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add patties; cook about 5 minutes, turning once, until browned. Do not drain oil.
Step 3
Add a bit of butter directly onto pan to let combine with oil. Add remaining sliced mushrooms and onion, 2 tablespoons ketchup and the gravy. Heat to boiling; reduce heat to low. Cover; cook 5 to 10 minutes or until meat thermometer inserted in center of patties reads 160°F and patties are no longer pink in center.
