Crispy black beans

6 steps
Prep:5minCook:30min
An easy and cheap snack that can be eaten on the go. Canned beans are quicker but if you have time to soak and boil the beans it works out even cheaper. The roasted beans are also delicious as a salad topping.

Instructions

Step 1
Put the oven on to a high heat - around 230 C or Gas 7.
Step 2
Place the drained beans on a clean dry teatowel or kitchen roll and gently pat them dry. Discard any skins as these may burn.
Step 3
Mix the olive oil and spices together in a lidded container, large enough to hold the beans.
Step 4
Add the beans to the oil and spices, put the lid on and gently shake so that all of the beans are coated.
Step 5
Place the beans in a single layer onto a sheet of baking paper on a baking tray and place in the oven. Raast the beans for around 30 minutes. Alternatively, the beans can be cooked in an air fryer on 200C for around 10 minutes.
Step 6
Leave the beans to cool slightly before eating, or let them cool completely and place in an airtight container for on the go snacking or to sprinkle on a salad.
