6 cupsromaine lettuce

0.5red onion
small, thinly sliced
½ cupgorgonzola cheese
1 cupcandied pecans

Instructions

Step 1
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Step 2
In a large bowl. combine the brown sugar, salt and pepper.
Step 3
Blanch the nuts in boiling water for 2 minutes, drain and toss with sugar mixture until nuts are well coated.
Step 4
Spread in a single layer on a lined baking sheet and roast for about 15 minutes, stirring halfway through.
Whiskey Vinaigrette
Step 5
Whisk together all ingredients except olive oil in a medium bowl. Add in olive oil in a slow, steady stream, whisking constantly until smooth.
Salad
Step 6
Soak red onions in ice water for at least 10 minutes, then drain.
Step 7
Toss all ingredients except pecans with about 1/3 cup of the vinaigrette, then garnish salad with candied pecans. Serve with remaining vinaigrette on the side.
