Instructions

Step 1
In a large saucepan, cover the bottom with cooking oil and add the chopped vegetables. Cover with a lid and cook for 30 minutes on medium heat, mixing occasionally.
Step 2
Meanwhile, prepare the meatballs. Fry one onion for a few minutes on low heat, then add the washed and drained (raw) rice for a minute.
Step 3
In a large bowl, place the minced meat together with the onion and the rice, and season with salt, black pepper, sweet paprika powder, and dried thyme. Add half of the chopped herbs (parsley and dill) and a raw egg white, then mix with your hand.
Step 4
Form small meatballs using the mixture.
Step 5
Bring water to a boil in a large pot and add the fried vegetables from step one and the borș liquid or powder. When it is boiling, slowly add in the formed meatballs and chopped herbs.
Step 6
Let the soup cook for 15 more minutes.
Step 7
You can add sour cream to the bowl for flavour. Serve with raw, salted onion. Poftă bună!
