Instructions

Step 1
Combine the ground beef, garlic and onion powder in a large skillet or frying pan.
Step 2
Brown the meat to fully cook and drain the grease out.
Step 3
While the meat is browning, combine the ricotta (or cottage) cheese, parmesan and egg in a medium bowl.
Step 4
Combine the cooked beef with the jar of marinara sauce.
Step 5
Spray the crock pot with cooking spray.
Step 6
Spread 1/3 can of tomato sauce in the bottom of the pot.
Step 7
Layer half of the meat mixture in the bottom of the pot, then half the ricotta mixture, then half the mozzarella, spreading evenly on each layer.
Step 8
Repeat the layering with the remaining mixtures.
Step 9
Add the remaining 2/3 can of tomato sauce to the top, spreading evenly.
Step 10
Cook on high for 1-1.5 hours, until heated through and cheeses melted.
Step 11
Serve with ladle in bowls. This is surprisingly filling. May serve with cloud bread and/or thick bell pepper slices.
