Nutrition balance score

Uh-oh! We're unable to calculate nutrition for this recipe because some ingredients aren't recognized.

Instructions

Step 1
Boil the eggs for 12 minutes and then place in cool water.
Step 2
While the eggs boil- In a medium pot, combine uncooked brown rice and water/unsalted broth. Cook rice according to package directions, usually about 40-45 minutes or until all of the water/broth is absorbed.
Step 3
While the rice is cooking, finely chop the hard-boiled eggs, shell and all, in your food processor and place in a large bowl to mix with other ingredients.
Step 4
While the rice is cooking- Boil the chicken and livers (with liver liquid) until completely cooked, roughly 25-30 minutes, 40 minutes if frozen. (If you are using a different other than chicken, brown and cook appropriately, making sure the meat is fully cooked.) Set aside the broth that the chicken was cooked in, and put the cooked chicken into a food processor or blender or chop/shred the chicken into little chunks and transfer to the large mixing bowl. Dogs don't chew their food so it's essential to chop their food, especially vegetables, so that they will absorb the most amount of nutrients from their food.
Step 5
If using frozen vegetables, thaw out by running under warm water until soft. Chop vegetables finely and microwave in some water to soften a bit. Carrots- microwave 5 minutes, all other softer vegetable can be a couple minutes. Place in a blender or food processor.
Step 6
Add 1 TBSP of the vitamin supplement to the blender/food processor. Blend, then transfer to the large mixing bowl, with the chicken. It's even more imperative with the vegetables than the meat, to make sure they are well chopped or blended. I used- "NaturVet All-in-One Dog Supplement - for Joint Support, Digestion, Skin, Coat Care – Dog Vitamins, Minerals, Omega-3, 6, 9 – Wheat-Free Supplements for Dogs – 13-Ounce Powder"
Step 7
When the rice is done, combine it with the chicken/egg/vegetable mixture.
Step 8
The easiest method of storage (to keep the most amount of nutrients so that your dog gets the most) is freezing. I froze mine in "Brand: ePackageSupply 16 oz. (Pint) Freezer Storage Containers with Lids | Food Storage Containers with Lids | Plastic Food Containers | Food Prep | Meal Prep | Freezer Containers | Food Containers - White - 10 Pack"
Step 9
When the dog food has cooled, put lids on and label with the date of freezing. You can take the dog food from the freezer, the day before and put it into the fridge to thaw. I usually mix 1/2-1 cup of kibble and 1/2 cup of homemade dog food into the bowl and then add a little bit of the leftover chicken/chicken liver broth/hot water from the sink, to make a gravy.
Step 10
This dog food will keep for 6-9 months in the freezer and 1 week in the fridge.
