Instructions
Step 1
In a heavy pan or cast iron skillet add the oil over medium high heat
Step 2
Salt and pepper the roast on all sides
Step 3
Sear in the oil on all sides and add to a crockpot
Step 4
Add the onion, gravy packet, ranch, and beef stock
Step 5
Put the butter right on top of the roast
Step 6
Cook on low 6-8 hours
Step 7
Optional: When it’s finished cooking you can make gravy by straining the juices into a saucepan, add a slurry of 2 tablespoons cornstarch and 2 tablespoons water mixed together and poured into the juices. Simmer while whisking until thickened
