Instructions

Step 1
Put warm water into a bowl, sprinkle yeast on top and 1 teaspoon sugar. Should start to froth in 10 minutes.
Step 2
In a mixing bowl add, flour, rest of sugar, salt, and baking powder, mix together and form a well in centre. Into well pour melted butter, yoghurt, nigella seeds and yeast mixture, then bring everything together. This needs to form a soft but not sticky dough. (Add flour or water if necessary)
Step 3
Turn out onto a floured surface and knead for 10 minutes and until the dough is smooth and elastic. Form into a ball and place in a buttered bowl and cover for an hour or until doubled in size.
Step 4
Divide the dough into 6 even balls, place on a lightly dusted tray and cover with a damp tea towel.
Step 5
To cook, take each ball and form into a teardrop approximately 21cm long and 13cm wide and gently place on a very hot dry surface. Cook for 3 minutes then turn for 3 - 4 minutes until cooked through. Naan should be puffed up and have a few charred patches.
