Instructions

Step 1
Preheat oven to 325°F. Grease and flour pan(s).
Step 2
Combine buttermilk with baking soda. Set aside.
Step 3
Cream sugar, butter, and shortening.
Step 4
Add egg yolks.
Step 5
Add alternating buttermilk and flour.
Step 6
Stir in vanilla.
Step 7
Beat egg whites stiff. Fold in.
Step 8
Gently stir in pecans and coconut.
Step 9
Pour into 9x13 or 3 round 8" pans.
Step 10
Bake at 325°F for 25 min.
