Ingredients

8 ozlean ground beef

1carrot
shredded or diced fine

0.5onion
small, shredded or diced fine

2 teaspoonsminced garlic

1 teaspoondried oregano

¼ cupdry red wine
optional

1 x 14 ouncecan crushed tomatoes
preferably San Marzano

6 ozpasta

2 tablespoonfresh basil leaves
chopped, or 1 teaspoon dried basil, optional

¼ cuphalf n half
or cream

¼ cupparmesan cheese
freshly grated

½ tspred pepper flakes
optional
Instructions
Step 1
Sauté ground beef, carrots, and onion in olive oil until browned. Stir in the garlic, oregano, and red pepper flakes and cook for 1 more minute.
Step 2
Pour wine into the skillet and stir to scrape up any browned bits.
Step 3
Add the tomatoes, pinch of salt, and pepper, stirring until combined.
Step 4
Bring to a boil, lower the heat, and simmer for 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Meanwhile, cook pasta.
Step 5
While the pasta cooks, finish the sauce. Add the basil and half n half and simmer for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened. Top with parmesan.
