Step 1
Breakdown and brown the sausage in a large sauté pan.
Step 2
• Transfer the entire contents of the sauté pan to a large stockpot.
Step 3
• In the same sauté pan cook bacon slices until crisp then remove bacon to dry on a paper towel.
Step 4
• Using the same pan with bacon drippings sauté the onion until translucent then add onions to the stockpot.
Step 5
• Finely chop the bacon slices and add to stockpot.
Step 6
• Add chicken broth, water, minced garlic, potatoes, and crushed red pepper to the stockpot.
Step 7
• Boil the contents of the stockpot for about 30 mins until the potatoes are tender.
Step 8
• Add kale and half & half and let simmer for 15 minutes until kale is tender.
