Gingerbread cake with brown sugar sauce
Light gingerbread cake with lucious brown sugar sauce. I added 2 tablespoons of butter to my sauce when started to thicken.

Instructions
Step 1
Beat egg in medium bowl till frothy. Add oil and molasses
Step 2
Add sugar, ginger, cloves, and cinnamon and salt, beat slowly.
Step 3
Dissolve baking soda in boiling water and add to batter. Slowly add flour and mix.
Step 4
Turn into 8 x 8 pan or 9 x 9 pan ( I used a loaf pan). Bake at 350 for 35 to 40 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
Step 5
Serve warm with sauce

Sauce: Add flour, salt and sugar to medium saucepan and stir. Add water and vanilla. Cook until thickened. I added 2 tablespoons butter at end.
