Ingredients
4 servings
1 lbflank steak
or strip
2 tspsoy sauce
low sodium
¼ cupcornstarch
pepper
to taste
2 cupsparboiled rice
or other long grain
4 cupsbroccoli florets
2 tblssesame seeds
2 tblsvegetable oil
For the Sauce
Instructions
Step 1
Slice beef into thin strips and toss with 2 tsp soy sauce, ¼ cup cornstarch and pepper. Set aside
Step 2
Mix together the sauce ingredients. Set aside.
Step 3
Bring 2 cups of water, rice and 1/4 tsp of salt to a boil. Cover with a lid and reduce to a simmer for 18-20 minutes.
Step 4
In a large skillet or wok heat 2 tbls vegetable oil. Quickly fry stips of beef. Remove from the pan
Step 5
Add the broccoli to the pan along with ¼ cup of water. Cover for 5 minutes to gently steam
Step 6
Remove the lid and add the sauce and add back the beef. Toss to coat. Cook for 3-5 minutes until the sauce is slightly thickened.
Step 7
Place ½-1 cup of rice in each bowl.
Step 8
Top with beef and broccoli and a sprinkling of sesame seeds
