Step 1
Sauté onion and cut bacon together in large pot until onion is opaque
Step 2
When the onions are opaque, add the green beans, liquid and all, along with about chicken-flavored “better than bullion” soup base. Then add sugar, garlic powder and pepper. You can add some salt later if you think they need it but wait until after they’re done to do that because the soup base is also salty.
Step 3
Bring it all to a boil, then turn it down and let it simmer 2 hours or until the liquid is almost gone.
