Instructions

Step 1
Heat the olive oil, then add the onion, all spice, salt and cumin, sauté the onion for 5 minutes then add rinsed lentils, salt and about 6 cups of water, bring mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium-low, cover and simmer until the lentils are tender – This will take about 20 minutes,
Step 2
Add the rinsed rice and another 2 cups of warm water. Bring mixture back to boil, cover the pot and simmer until the water is absorbed and the rice and lentils are both cooked through – this will take also about 20 minutes.
Step 3
Stirring occasionally to prevent mixture from sticking to bottom of pot.
Step 4
Removing the pot from the fire, poured it in serving plate and left to cool. (served warm or cold).
