Step 1
In a saucepan, put some oil and sauté the chopped onions for 5 minutes then add in the crushed garlic and stir for a minute.
Step 2
Stir in the lentils and potatoes for 1 minute, add the salt, allspice, cumin powder, and all the water, give it a quick mix to combine.
Step 3
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium low, cover, and simmer for approx 15-20 minutes until lentils and potatoes are cooked.
Step 4
Stir in the swiss chard stems & leaves, put the lid on and simmer on medium low for 20-30 minutes until chard stems is tender.
Step 5
Stir in the lemon juice, taste and adjust seasonings, let it simmer for 3 minutes then it’s ready to serve.
Step 6
Serve it with toasted pita bread aside
