Beer can chicken recipe
Beer can chicken is moist and so easy to make at home. You can make it in a conventional oven or in a barbeque. Add herbs and spices or keep it simple and let the flavours of the chicken shine through.

Instructions
Step 1
Combine mustard, honey and olive oil in a small bowl. Season with salt and pepper.
Step 2
Place chicken in a shallow dish. Push half the butter mixture under chicken skin. Rub remaining butter all over chicken. Cover and refrigerate for three hours or overnight.
Step 3
Close the hood and preheat the barbeque with the burners set to high. Keep the hood down until the thermometer reads around 200°C. Set up your barbeque for indirect cooking. (This means the burner directly under the dish is off).
Step 4
5 Open beer can and discard one-quarter of the beer. Using a small sharp knife, make three punches in the side of the can above the liquid level. Place the can in the centre of a disposable baking dish. Cover chicken legs and wings with foil. Sit the chicken, standing upright, on beer can, pushing the can as far into the chicken cavity as it will go.
Step 5
Cover chicken in foil and roast with hood closed for 60 minutes. Remove foil from chicken and cook for a further 10 minutes or until cooked. Lift chicken from can be securing can with tongs. Cover chicken and stand for 10 minutes before serving
