Finally homestyle, just-like-mom’s Aloo Gosht recipe is here. Mutton/Lamb and Potato Curry is a traditional, onepot recipe , that’s easy to make, and yet delicious . I am making this recipe for years but finally I’m able to make just like my ami so sharing with you all. So you can make for your family too.

Mutton

½ cupOil

1 tspcumin seeds

½ tspBlack peppercorns

3 inchesCinnamon stick

3 piecesBay leaves

5 piecesGreen cardamom

2Onions
medium sliced

1 TbspGarlic paste

1 TbspGinger paste

1 tspCoriander powder

salt
to taste

½ tspTurmeric

1 TbspRed chilli powder

1 tspCumin powder

1Tomato
large

1 cupYogurt

3Potatoes
medium

1 Tbspfenugreek leaves

Instructions
Step 1
In a pot heat up the oil. Add bay leaves, cinnamon stick, cumin seeds, black cardamom, green cardamom pods, cloves and black peppercorns. Fry for few seconds but don't splutter the cumin seeds.
Step 2
Add sliced onions and fry until golden brown.
Step 3
Add lamb/mutton with bones and fry for 7-8 minutes until colour changes to brown.
Step 4
Add ginger garlic paste and cook for 4-5 minutes until raw smell disappears.
Step 5
Add salt, turmeric, cumin powder, coriander powder, chilli powder, and mix it well with meat.
Step 6
Add chopped tomatoes and stir well. Cover and cook for 5-6 minutes or until tomatoes softened.Keep stirring occasionally, otherwise stick on bottom.
Step 7
Add in the whisked yogurt and mix it well with the meat and masala. Cook for 10 minutes stirring frequently until you see the oil separation from the sides.
Step 8
Pour water and slow cook meat until tender.Cover and let it cook for an hour but depending on the size and quality of the meat.Give it a stir in every 15 minutes so that it doesn't stick to the bottom.
Step 9
When water is almost dried, remove the lid, give it a mix and add potatoes. Keep mixing for 3-4 minutes with meat and masala
Step 10
Add dried fenugreek leaves and green chillies. Pour water and let it boil.
Step 11
Cover and simmer until potatoes are cooked and gravy consistency according to your preference.
Step 12
In the last add few drops of kewra water.
Step 13
Serve with naan / chappatis or rice. Enjoy!
