Twist glutinous/ mochi donut

Most twist donuts require yeast but since I was really craving for it after catching a Kdrama episode, I decided to experiment with it and it turned out to be so delicious! This simple recipe uses just 6 ingredients and the mochi is cooked in microwave for only 1.5 minutes before deep frying it. This recipe makes just 4 twist donuts.

Instructions

Cooking the mochi

Step 1
Mix melted icecream, glutinous rice flour and water together till smooth. Cover and microwave on high for 1 minute
Step 2
Mix well and then cover again and microwave this time for 30 seconds. Then mix well again and place mochi on floured board

Preparing the twist donuts

Step 3
Cut the mochi dough into 4 equal portions. Roll out each piece into a long strip. Then twist the strip before folding it into half and twisting the donut. Press the ends together.

Cooking the twist donuts

Preheat about 1.5 inch of oil to prepare for deep frying at medium heat. Place 2 pieces at one time to cook till donut is fluffy and golden brown
Step 5
Once donut is ready, pat off excess oil and when it is not too hot to handle, coat it with fine sugar. Serve immediately while still warm.
