Instructions
Step 1
1. Mix the flour salt and yeast in a large bowl.
Step 2
2. Add 1-2 tbsp water.
Step 3
3. Tip the dough onto a lightly floured work surface and knead it until the dough becomes satin-smooth.
Step 4
4. Place it in a lightly oiled bowl to prove.
Step 5
5. Leave to prove for 1 hour until doubled in size.
Step 6
6. Knock back the dough then gently mould it into a ball.
Step 7
7. Place it on a baking tray lined with parchment to prove for a further hour.
Step 8
8. Dust the loaf with flour and cut a cross into the top of the loaf.
Step 9
9. Preheat the oven to 220˚C/fan 200˚C/gas 7 and bake for 25-30 minutes.
Step 10
10. Bake until golden brown.
Step 11
11. Cool on a wire rack.
