Cheesy Breadsticks Made from Pizza Dough

Based on a recipe by sallysbakingaddiction.com. I'm not gonna lie. This is not a low calorie snack! But it's so worth it! This also works well as a dipper for italian-style soups. You can use olive oil instead of butter. You can add or substitute parmesan cheese.

Instructions

Step 1
Preheat oven to 425°F (218°C).
OvenOvenPreheat
Step 2
Spread olive oil on a baking sheet. Shape the dough out into a rectangle on the pan. The dough will want to be round, so do your best to shape it into a rectangle around 8 x 10 or so – doesn’t have to be perfect.
Step 3
Combine the melted butter, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning together in a small bowl. Brush over shaped dough. Cover evenly with shredded cheese.
Step 4
Bake for about 12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
Step 5
Let cool for a few minutes, then use a spatula to help slide off the pan onto a cutting board. Slice into breadsticks (16 to make 2 sticks per serving) and serve plain or with sauce. Cover leftover breadsticks tightly and store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. Reheat as you prefer.

Notes

Step 6
Cheese: Any shredded cheese you love works. Mozzarella is fantastic with the butter, garlic, and herb topping.
Step 7
Try your favorite flavor of pasta sauce (or pizza sauce). I found italian sausage flavor to be wonderful.
