Step 1
1. Wash and drain the rice until the water no longer runs cloudy - about 5 washes. Then, soak the rice in water for 20 minutes.
Step 2
2. In a large pan, add the rice, the cardamom pods, the food colouring, ghee, 2 tbs sugar and enough water to cover everything well. Bring the pan to the boil. When the rice is cooked properly, rest it for few minutes on a very low flame.
Step 3
3. Make sugar syrup then add the cooked rice, the chopped pistachio and raisins and steam the rice for few minutes.
