Step 1
Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
Step 2
Cream butter until light and fluffy. Add brown sugar; cream. Then add white sugar; cream. Add egg and vanilla. Mix well. Add flour, baking soda and salt. Add more flour if dough is still sticky; it should just be starting to pull away from the bowl a bit. Mix in chocolate chips and anything else that sounds appealing (skor bar, butterscotch chips, macadamia nuts, sliced almonds, cocoa, oatmeal.
Step 3
NOTE: Dough should be a bit stiff and pull away from the sides of the bowl, if not add a bit more flour.
Step 4
Drop by large spoonfuls onto cookie sheets. Bake for 9-11 minutes, up to 13 minutes depending on cookie size. Cool on sheets for 3 minutes, place on rack and cool completely.
