Instructions

Step 1
Sweat diced onions and red peppers in a small pan over medium heat by heat butter in pan and once melted add vegetables and a pinch of salt. Now cook for about 10-15 minutes stirring occasionally. Once done take off heat and allow to cool.
Step 2
Once cooled gently add onions and peppers mixture with crab, mayonnaise, beaten egg, Dijon mustard, bread crumbs, salt, pepper, and spices
Step 3
Be careful not to break up crab meat. You want big pieces of meat in crab cake.
Step 4
Take mixture in your hand and form a 3 oz patty. Now cover crab cakes and let sit in refrigerator for 30 minutes to allow flavors to soak in.
Step 5
In a large frying pan heat oil or butter over high heat.
Step 6
Add crab cakes and cook until golden on bottom, flip and brown on second side.
Step 7
Remove from the pan and place on cooling rack and season with salt.
