Mom’s stuffing recipe

I start by cooking up a package of farmer’s sausage, chopping onions, garlic, celery, and apples. You could add some nuts or dried cranberries as well. After that is browned, I make up the stove top stuffing mix and I add is all of the other ingredients and I add some turkey drippings. Put all of this into a casserole dish and stick into the oven with the turkey, until the top is golden and a bit crispy. I almost always cook the stuffing separate from the turkey. For two reasons, a stuffed turkey takes longer to cook, and I also find that dressing get too mushy inside the turkey.
