Sesame Chicken

If you love Chinese take out this is the recipe for you. Once you master this technique, you won't miss the restaurant version at all. Your homemade variety will taste fresher too.

Instructions

Step 1
Combine flour and cornstarch in a large, sealable plastic bag, add a chicken to a medium bowl with egg, and stir to fully coat pieces. Place chicken in the bag with the flour mixture. Keep turning over the bag until chicken pieces are fully coated.
Step 2
He vegetable oil in a large skillet, or wok over medium-high heat, add chicken to hot oil and fry for 6 to 8 minutes, until light golden brown. Drain chicken on a paper towel lined plate, discard oil from wok. Allow oil to completely cool before disposing of it.
Step 3
In a small bowl, whisk together, honey, soy sauce, ketchup, sugar, vinegar, ginger and cornstarch until fully combined.
Step 4
Heat sesame oil in the same skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds. Add sauce and bring to a simmer. cook for three to four minutes, or until just thickened. Add chicken to the Skillet and toss to coat with sauce and cook for one to two minutes. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions and serve.
