Ingredients
4 servings
1 ½ Tbspolive oil
1 cuptomato puree
or crushed tomatoes
¼ cupwater
1 tspitalian seasoning
1 tspminced garlic
1 tspsugar
optional
salt
to taste
pepper
to taste
1 cupveggies
onions, mushrooms, spinach etc
1 cupground beef
protein of choice, shredded chicken, turkey etc
toppings
for the bake
1 cupshredded mozzarella cheese
¼ cupgrated parmesan cheese
Instructions
Step 1
1. Pre-heat oven to 425°, lightly oil an 8 x 6 inch baking dish.
Step 2
2. In a medium pot, over medium heat add olive oil, (optional vegetables of choice) garlic, purée, water, Italian seasoning. Stir to combine cook until thickened (not too thick), approximately 15-20 minutes.
Step 3
3. Also cook protein of choice prior or before making the gnocchi and let it sit separately.
Step 4
4. While sauce is cooking, boil water and cook gnocchi just until the float to the surface, approximately 30 seconds, drain immediately.
Step 5
5. When sauce has thickened add gnocchi and toss gently, add all the additional ingredients to the gnocchi and tomato sauce
Step 6
6. Then place in prepared baking pan, top with first shredded Mozzarella and then grated Parmesan cheese. Bake in oven for approximately 5 minutes then broil for another 3-5 Ominutes or until cheese has browned, (watch it doesn't burn). Serve immediately. Enjoy!
