Instructions
Step 1
Heat oven to 400 degrees.
Step 2
Heat olive oil in large Dutch oven or stockpot on stove over medium high heat.
Step 3
Add chopped onion and bell pepper, cook until softened. (Add any additional seasonings at this time: crushed red pepper, garlic powder, salt, if needed)
Step 4
Add ground beef, breaking up as it cooks, until fully browned. (Drain beef of any fat, if preferred - return beef and veg to pot)
Step 5
Add 2 jars of sauce and 2 small cans of tomato paste, stirring until fully incorporated. Taste sauce and add seasoning if needed. Reduce heat to very low.
Step 6
Cook pasta per package directions, cooking until al dente. Strain.
Step 7
Add strained pasta to sauce and stir until fully mixed. Remove from heat. Add 1/2 cup of grated parmesan to sauce and noodle mixture, stirring.
Step 8
Spread mixture into two large 9x13 glass dishes, spreading until even. Top each with 1 cup of shredded Italian blend cheese (and additional parmesan, if preferred)
Step 9
Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes, or until cheese has browned and sauce is bubbly.
Step 10
Let stand for approximately 5-10 minutes to allow sauce and noodles to set (and to reduce dish from lava stage).
Step 11
Serve with additional parmesan, if preferred.
