Crispy Tofu Skewers & Satay Dipping Sauce
6 steps
Prep:20minCook:15min
A favourite plant based appetiser in my kitchen, these skewers certainly redefine what a plant-based starter is normally thought to be! A crispy skewer and a moreish dipping sauce that you won’t be able to get enough of! These are also great on the BBQ.

Ingredients
6 servings
600gtofu
¼ cuptamari
3 Tbspcoconut oil
OR ghee
1cucumber
sliced
¼ cupmint
roughly chopped
1 Tbspsesame seeds
Satay Dipping Sauce
Instructions
Step 1
Slice the tofu into long rectangles, about 2cm thick. Carefully skewer these onto skewers, pushing them all the way up but stopping just before it breaks through.
Step 2
Place skewers into a tray and pour over tamari to marinate for at least 15 minutes.
Step 3
Meanwhile, prepare the sauce by combining all ingredients in a small bowl, along with 1 tbsp (10ml) of water and set aside.
Step 4
To cook the tofu, carefully place the coconut oil or ghee in a large pan on a high heat. You want to bring the oil up to a high temperature. You can test this by splashing a drop of water into the pan. You want to hear a sizzle.
Step 5
Carefully, using tongs, place the tofu skewers in the pan and cook on each side for about 5 minutes until nice and crispy. Pour over any remaining tamari.
Step 6
Serve with cucumber, chopped mint, sesame seeds and satay dipping sauce.
