Step 1
Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
Step 2
Combine spice rub and sprinkle evenly over both sides of chicken. Heat a large cast-iron or other ovenproof skillet over medium heat. Add oil to pan; swirl to coat. Add chicken to pan, skin side down. Cook 6 minutes or until skin is lightly browned. Turn chicken and sear other side for about 2 minutes.
Step 3
Move skillet to oven and roast for 10-12 minutes, skin side up until a thermometer inserted into chicken registers 165°F-170°F, about 10 to 12 minutes.
