Instructions
Step 1
Mix all ingredients, except bacon and flour, in a large pot and cover in water. Cook uncovered on medium heat for about an hour.
Step 2
Cut bacon into small pieces and brown.
Step 3
Add bacon to pot and render grease for rue.
Step 4
Slowly mix flour with grease until browned and stir into sauerkraut.
Step 5
Cook for another 15 minutes and/or transfer to crockpot to cook on low.
