Ingredients
0 servings
1 boxpasta
of your choice, rigatoni, or penne works really well
2 stalkscelery
½ cuponion
chopped, optional
1can peas
drained, or you can use 1 small bag frozen peas
1can tuna
or 1 can chicken, if you use chicken be sure it is, already cooked
1can cream of mushroom soup
¼ cupmilk
1 tablespoonbutter
or oil, or you can use both
salt
garlic salt or seasoning salt
pepper
Instructions
Step 1
Get out a casserole dish and lightly coat it with cooking spray or just rub a bit of butter all around it.
Step 2
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Step 3
Put a big pan of water on to boil and cook the pasta according to the box instructions. When cooked, drain the pasta.
Step 4
Chop up the celery and onion if you are using into nice diced pieces. Get out a saute pan or skillet and melt the butter or oil in the pan. Add the chopped onion and celery and cook until nice and soft over a medium low heat. Move the vegetables around and watch them. Once they are nice and soft move out of the pan and place them in a bowl.
Step 5
Now you are going to make the sauce. Open the can of cream of mushroom soup and put it in a small bowl. Add the milk and stir to form a white sauce. Add more milk if you want but not too much or it will be too thin.
Step 6
Put the cooked pasta in a big bowl. Add the cooked vegetables, tuna or chicken, drained can of peas (or frozen peas). Mix well and add the sauce. Season with salt and pepper, garlic salt, or any other seasonings you would like to add.
Step 7
Pour into the greased casserole dish. Put a few knobs of butter all over the top. This is optional but if you would like you could scatter some grated cheese over the top too. Cover with some foil.
Step 8
Now you are ready to put in the pre-heated oven. Bake the casserole until its nice and hot around 40-55 minutes depending on the oven. You can remove the foil for the last 10 or 15 minutes so the top gets brown.
Step 9
You could make this ahead – say the night before cover with foil and leave in the fridge until you are ready to bake.
