Lovely Layered Biscuits
8 steps
Prep:10minCook:12min
Fairly easy, fairly quick biscuits resulting in nice layers and good flavor. Sometimes I pull them apart, lightly butter pan fry/toast each half (inside face down). The texture and taste is too die for.

Instructions
Step 1
Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
OvenPreheat
Step 2
Cut butter into small pieces and stick back in the fridge or freezer. You will ultimately want pea size bits so you can do it now or cut into slightly larger chunks and cut the size down when mixing into dry ingredients. Remember cold butter is the most important piece.
Step 3
Combine the dry ingredients well in a bowl.
Step 4
Add cold butter and mix into dry ingredients. You can use a pastry cutter or a blender but you want the butter evenly mixed in at about pea size. Don't over work it so the butter stays cold
Step 5
Add in the milk and egg and mix just until the ingredients are combined. The dough will be sticky, you want it like that and not overworked
Step 6
Move dough onto a floured surface. Sprinkle some flour on to the top of dough so it won't stick to your fingers and knead 10-15 times.
Step 7
Pat the dough out to about an inch thick. Cut with a biscuit cutter or a glass.
Step 8
Place the biscuits on a parchment lined baking sheet and bake at 450 for 10 to 15 minutes or until golden brown
